Peter Reports to the Church at Jerusalem

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.1Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.1Now the apostles and the brethren who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.1And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.1The apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had welcomed God's message also.
So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him2So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision party criticized him, saying,2And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those who were circumcised took issue with him,2And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,2When Peter went up to Jerusalem, those who stressed circumcision argued with him,
and said, "You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them."3“You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.”3saying, "You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them."3Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.3saying, "You visited uncircumcised men and ate with them!"
Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story:4But Peter began and explained it to them in order:4But Peter began speaking and proceeded to explain to them in orderly sequence, saying,4But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,4Peter began to explain to them in an orderly sequence, saying: "

"I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was.5“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me.5"I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came right down to me,5I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:5I was in the town of Joppa praying, and I saw, in a visionary state, an object that resembled a large sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners from heaven, and it came to me.
I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds.6Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air.6and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air.6Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.6When I looked closely and considered it, I saw the four-footed animals of the earth, the wild beasts, the reptiles, and the birds of the sky.
Then I heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'7And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’7"I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.'7And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.7Then I also heard a voice telling me, Get up, Peter; kill and eat!'"
"I replied, 'Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'8But I said, ‘By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’8"But I said, 'By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'8But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.8No, Lord!' I said. 'For nothing common or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth!'
"The voice spoke from heaven a second time, 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.'9But the voice answered a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, do not call common.’9"But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.'9But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.9But a voice answered from heaven a second time, 'What God has made clean, you must not call common.'"

This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.10This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven.10"This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky.10And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.10Now this happened three times, and then everything was drawn up again into heaven.
"Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.11And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea.11"And behold, at that moment three men appeared at the house in which we were staying, having been sent to me from Caesarea.11And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.11At that very moment, three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were.
The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man's house.12And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.12"The Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brethren also went with me and we entered the man's house.12And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:12Then the Spirit told me to accompany them with no doubts at all. These six brothers accompanied me, and we went into the man's house.
He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, 'Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter.13And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter;13"And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;13And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;13He reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, 'Send to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is also named Peter.
He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.'14he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’14and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.'14Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.14He will speak a message to you that you and all your household will be saved by.'"

"As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.15As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning.15"And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.15As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them, just as on us at the beginning.
Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'16And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’16"And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'16Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.16Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God's way?"17If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”17"Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?"17Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?17Therefore, if God gave them the same gift that He also gave to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?"
When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life."18When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”18When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."18When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.18When they heard this they became silent. Then they glorified God, saying, "So God has granted repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles!"

Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews.19Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.19So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.19Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.19Those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the message to no one except Jews.
Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus.20But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists also, preaching the Lord Jesus.20But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus.20And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.20But there were some of them, Cypriot and Cyrenian men, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Hellenists, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.
The Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.21And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.21And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord.21And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.21The Lord's hand was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord.
News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.22The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.22The news about them reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas off to Antioch.22Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.22Then the report about them was heard by the church that was at Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to travel as far as Antioch.

When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.23When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose,23Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord;23Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.23When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged all of them to remain true to the Lord with a firm resolve of the heart,
He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.24for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.24for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord.24For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.24for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And large numbers of people were added to the Lord.
Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,25So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,25And he left for Tarsus to look for Saul;25Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:25Then he went to Tarsus to search for Saul,
and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.26and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.26and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.26and when he found him he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught large numbers. The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.
During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.27Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.27Now at this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.27And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.27In those days some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.

One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.)28And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius).28One of them named Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world. And this took place in the reign of Claudius.28And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.28Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world. This took place during the time of Claudius.
The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.29So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.29And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in Judea.29Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:29So each of the disciples, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea.
This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.30And they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.30And this they did, sending it in charge of Barnabas and Saul to the elders.30Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.30They did this, sending it to the elders by means of Barnabas and Saul.
