A Thankful Heart

לְדָוִ֨ד׀ (Of David).

1אוֹדְךָ֥ (I give You praise) בְכָל־ (with all) לִבִּ֑י (of my heart);

נֶ֖גֶד (before) אֱלֹהִ֣ים (the gods) אֲזַמְּרֶֽךָּ׃ (I sing Your praises).

2  אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֨ה (I bow down) אֶל־ (toward) הֵיכַ֪ל (the temple) קָדְשְׁךָ֡ (of Your holiness)

וְא֘וֹדֶ֤ה (and I give thanks) אֶת־ (-) שְׁמֶ֗ךָ (to Your name)

עַל־ (for) חַסְדְּךָ֥ (Your loving devotion) וְעַל־ (and for) אֲמִתֶּ֑ךָ (Your faithfulness);

כִּֽי־ (for) הִגְדַּ֥לְתָּ (You have magnified) עַל־ (above) כָּל־ (all)

שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ (Your name), אִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ (Your word).

3  בְּי֣וֹם (On the day) קָ֭רָֽאתִי (I called out) וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֑נִי (then You answered me),

תַּרְהִבֵ֖נִי (You embolden me) בְנַפְשִׁ֣י (in my soul) עֹֽז׃ (with strength).

4  יוֹד֣וּךָ (Will give You thanks) יְ֭הוָה (O YHWH) כָּל־ (all) מַלְכֵי־ (the kings) אָ֑רֶץ (of the earth)

כִּ֥י (when) שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ (they hear) אִמְרֵי־ (the words) פִֽיךָ׃ (of Your mouth).

5  וְ֭יָשִׁירוּ (And they will sing) בְּדַרְכֵ֣י (of the ways) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH),

כִּ֥י (for) גָ֝ד֗וֹל (great is) כְּב֣וֹד (the glory) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

6  כִּי־ (For though) רָ֣ם (is on high) יְ֭הוָה (is YHWH),

וְשָׁפָ֣ל (and the lowly one) יִרְאֶ֑ה (He sees),

וְ֝גָבֹ֗הַּ (and the haughty) מִמֶּרְחָ֥ק (from afar) יְיֵדָֽע׃ (He knows).

7  אִם־ (When) אֵלֵ֤ךְ׀ (I walk) בְּקֶ֥רֶב (in the midst) צָרָ֗ה (of distress),

תְּחַ֫יֵּ֥נִי (You revive me) עַ֤ל (against) אַ֣ף (the anger) אֹ֭יְבַי (of my enemies);

תִּשְׁלַ֣ח (You stretch out) יָדֶ֑ךָ (Your hand),

וְת֖וֹשִׁיעֵ֣נִי (and saves me) יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ (Your right hand).

8  יְהוָה֮ (May YHWH) יִגְמֹ֪ר (complete this)

בַּ֫עֲדִ֥י (on my behalf).

יְ֭הוָה (O YHWH), חַסְדְּךָ֣ (Your loving devotion) לְעוֹלָ֑ם (is forever);

מַעֲשֵׂ֖י (the works) יָדֶ֣יךָ (of Your hands) אַל־ (do not) תֶּֽרֶף׃ (forsake).
