Hebrews 13

Brotherly Love

1Let brotherly love continue. 2Be not forgetful of hospitality; for thereby some have entertained angels, not knowing it. 3Remember those that are in bonds, as if bound with them: and those that suffer evil as being yourselves also in the body. 4Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is not defiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Christ’s Unchanging Nature

5Let your conversation be free from covetousness, and be contented with what ye have: for He hath said, I will not leave thee; I will never, never forsake thee.

6So that we may say with courage, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

7Remember your guides, who spake the word of God to you; whose faith imitate, considering the happy end of their conversation. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, to day, and for ever: 9be not then carried about by various and strange doctrines; for it is good that the heart be established by grace, and not in meats, in which those that have been most exact, have not profited by them. 10We have an altar, of which those who perform service in the tabernacle have no right to eat. 11As the bodies of those animals, whose blood being offered for sin is brought into the holy place by the high-priest, are not eaten, but are burnt without the camp. 12Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13Let us then go out unto Him without the camp, bearing his reproach: for we have here no continuing city, 14but are seeking that which is to come.

Sacrifice, Obedience, and Prayer

15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

17Be ruled by those that are your guides, and submit to them: for they watch for your souls; (as those that must give an account) that they may do it with joy and not with uneasiness: for this were unprofitable for you.

18Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, desiring in all things to behave well. 19And I the more earnestly intreat you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction and Farewell

20Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21make you perfect in every good work, to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

22I beseech you, brethren, bear with this word of exhortation: as I have written to you in brief. 23Know that our brother Timothy is set at liberty, with whom (if he come soon) I will see you. 24Salute all that preside over you, yea and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.

25Grace be with you all. Amen.
