Hebrews 13
Worrell New Testament Par ▾

Brotherly Love

1Let brotherly love continue. 2Do not forget to show love for strangers; for thereby some entertained angels unawares. 3Remember the prisoners, as bound with them; those ill-treated, as being yourselves also in the body. 4Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Christ’s Unchanging Nature

5Let your disposition be without fondness for money; content with the present things; for He Himself hath said, "I will in nowise leave you, neither will I in any wise forsake you."

6So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my Helper, I will not be afraid; what shall man do to me?"

7Remember those who are your leaders, who spake to you the word of God; and, considering the issue of whose manner of life, imitate their faith. 8Jesus Christ is yesterday and today the same?and forever. 9Be not carried away by manifold and strange teachings; for it is good that the heart be established with grace, not with foods, in which those who occupied themselves were not profited. 10We have an altar, from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. 11For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the holy place through the priest as an offering for sin, are burned without the camp. 12Wherefore, Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered without the gate. 13Therefore, let us go forth to Him without the camp, bearing His reproach; 14For we have not here an abiding city, but we are seeking for the one about to come.

Sacrifice, Obedience, and Prayer

15Through Him, therefore, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually; that is, the fruit of our lips making confession to His name. 16But, of well-doing, and contributing, be not forgetful; for with such sacrifices God is well-pleased.

17Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.

18Pray for us; for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to deport ourselves honestly in all things. 19And I the more earnestly exhort you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction and Farewell

20Now the God of peace, Who brought up from the dead the Great Shepherd of the sheep, in virtue of the blood of an eternal covenant, even our Lord Jesus, 21make you perfect in every good thing to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to Whom be the glory forever. Amen.

22But I exhort you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation; for, indeed, I wrote to you in few words. 23Know ye that our brother Timothy has been set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. 24Salute all those who are your leaders, and all the saints. Those from Italy salute you.

25Grace be with you all.
