Jesus Our Advocate 1My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. 2And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 3And in this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. 4He who says, "I have known Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5but whosoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected: in this we know that we are in Him. 6He who says that he is abiding in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked. A New Commandment 7Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but and old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard. 8Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 9He who says that he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. 10He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. 11But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he is going, because the darkness blinded his eyes. 12I write to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake. 13I write to you, fathers, because ye have known Him Who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have conquered the evil one. I wrote to you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 14I wrote to you, fathers, because ye have known Him Who is from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have conquered the evil one. Do Not Love the World 15Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16because all that is in the world?the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the vain-glory of life?is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world is passing away, and the desire thereof; but be that does the will of God abides forever. Beware of Antichrists 18Little children, it is the last hour; and, as ye heard that Anti-Christ is coming, even now many anti-christs have arisen; whence we know that it is the last hour. 19They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, that they might be made manifest, that they are not all of us. 20And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and ye all know Him. 21I did not write to you because ye know not the truth; but because ye know it, and because no falsehood is of the truth. 22Who is the liar, but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Anti-Christ, he that denies the Father and the Son. 23Every one who denies the Son has not the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also. Remain in Christ 24As for you, let that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you. If that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you, ye also shall abide in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise which He Himself promised us, the eternal life. 26These things I wrote to you concerning those who would deceive you. 27And the Anointing which ye received from Him abideth in you, and ye have no need that anyone teach you; but as His Anointing teacheth you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as He taught you, ye abide in Him. 28And now, little children, abide in Him; that, if He shall be manifested, we may have confidence, and not be put away from Him with shame at His coming. 29If ye know that He is righteous, ye know that every one that does righteousness has been begotten of Him.
