Majesty

The concept of majesty in the Bible is intrinsically linked to the glory, sovereignty, and divine authority of God. It reflects His supreme greatness and the awe-inspiring nature of His presence. The term "majesty" is often used to describe the splendor and magnificence of God, as well as His kingly authority over all creation.

In the Old Testament, the majesty of God is frequently associated with His creation and His acts of deliverance. Psalm 93:1 declares, "The LORD reigns, He is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved." This verse emphasizes God's sovereign rule and the stability of His creation, underscoring His majestic nature.

The prophet Isaiah also speaks of God's majesty in the context of His redemptive power and holiness. Isaiah 24:14-15 states, "They raise their voices, they shout for joy; from the west they proclaim the majesty of the LORD. Therefore glorify the LORD in the east; exalt the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea." Here, the majesty of God is celebrated as His glory is proclaimed across the earth.

In the New Testament, the majesty of God is revealed through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:3 describes Christ as "the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." This passage highlights the divine majesty of Christ, who embodies the fullness of God's glory and authority.

Power

The power of God is a central theme throughout the Bible, demonstrating His ability to accomplish His will and purpose in the world. God's power is evident in creation, His acts of salvation, and His ongoing sustenance of the universe.

In the Old Testament, God's power is often displayed through miraculous events and His deliverance of His people. Exodus 15:6 proclaims, "Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy." This verse celebrates God's mighty power in delivering the Israelites from their enemies, showcasing His strength and authority.

The Psalms frequently extol God's power, as seen in Psalm 147:5 : "Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit." This verse affirms the limitless nature of God's power and His infinite wisdom.

In the New Testament, the power of God is most profoundly revealed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans 1:4 declares that Jesus "was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord." The resurrection is the ultimate demonstration of God's power over sin and death, affirming the divine authority of Christ.

The Apostle Paul frequently speaks of God's power at work in believers. Ephesians 3:20 states, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." This verse encourages believers to trust in God's power to accomplish His purposes in their lives.

In summary, majesty and power are attributes of God that reveal His supreme authority, glory, and ability to fulfill His divine will. These attributes are consistently affirmed throughout Scripture, inviting believers to worship and trust in the Almighty God.
