Legacy

In the biblical context, legacy refers to the spiritual, moral, and cultural inheritance passed down from one generation to another. This concept is deeply rooted in the Scriptures, where the faithfulness of God's people and their adherence to His commandments are seen as a legacy that impacts future generations.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of leaving a godly legacy. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7 , it is written, "These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." This passage underscores the responsibility of parents to instill God's commandments in their children, ensuring that His laws and teachings are perpetuated.

The legacy of faith is also highlighted in the life of Abraham. In Genesis 18:19 , God says of Abraham, "For I have chosen him, so that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what He has promised him." Abraham's legacy is not only his biological descendants but also the spiritual lineage of faith that extends to all who believe.

The Apostle Paul speaks of legacy in terms of spiritual mentorship and discipleship. In 2 Timothy 2:2 , Paul instructs Timothy, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." This verse illustrates the transmission of sound doctrine and the importance of raising up leaders who will continue the work of the Gospel.

Vision

Vision in the Bible often refers to divine revelation or insight given by God to His people. It is a means by which God communicates His will, purpose, and direction. Vision is crucial for understanding God's plans and for guiding His people in fulfilling their divine calling.

Proverbs 29:18 states, "Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law." This verse highlights the necessity of vision for maintaining order and purpose within a community. Without divine guidance, people are prone to wander and lose their way.

The prophets of the Old Testament frequently received visions from God, which they communicated to the people. For example, Isaiah's vision in Isaiah 6:1-8 reveals God's holiness and the prophet's commission to speak to Israel. In Acts 16:9-10 , Paul receives a vision of a man from Macedonia pleading for help, which leads to the spread of the Gospel in Europe. This demonstrates how vision can direct the mission and ministry of God's people.
