Jesus then calls Lazarus forth from the grave, demonstrating His power to restore life.

Another significant miracle is the raising of Jairus' daughter. In Mark 5:21-43, Jesus is approached by Jairus, a synagogue leader, whose daughter is gravely ill. Despite being informed of her death, Jesus tells Jairus, "Do not be afraid; only believe" (Mark 5:36). He then goes to the child and commands, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" (Mark 5:41), and she rises, alive and well.

Additionally, in Luke 7:11-17, Jesus encounters a funeral procession for the only son of a widow in Nain. Moved with compassion, He touches the bier and says, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" (Luke 7:14). The young man sits up and begins to speak, and Jesus gives him back to his mother.

In John 5:24-29, He speaks of the resurrection of the dead, stating, "Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. In John 10:17-18, Jesus declares His authority over His own life and death: "The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life in order to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from My Father" . In Matthew 28:5-6, the angel at the tomb announces to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said" .

The Apostle Paul expounds on the significance of the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, stating, "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive" . This passage underscores the belief that Jesus' victory over death ensures the future resurrection and eternal life for all believers.

Victory Over Death

The New Testament proclaims Jesus' victory over death as a triumph for all who believe in Him. In Revelation 1:17-18, Jesus declares, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades" . This imagery of holding the keys signifies His ultimate control and authority over death and the afterlife.
