The nations will escort Israel and bring it to its homeland.

The Lord’s restoration of Israel will be so complete that Gentile nations will assist in bringing the scattered people back to the land He gave to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The return from Babylon under Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah provided an initial historical fulfillment, aided by Persian rulers such as Cyrus. Isaiah also looks beyond that return to Israel’s final regathering, when the Lord will openly vindicate His people among the nations (Isaiah 49:22; Ezekiel 36:24).

Then the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s land.

Israel’s former captors will no longer hold power over them. The reversal fulfills God’s covenant faithfulness and establishes that the land belongs ultimately to the Lord, not to Israel’s enemies or to any earthly empire. Babylon’s apparent mastery over Judah would not overturn God’s promises or His purpose for His people.

They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.

God will judge the nations that proudly oppressed His people and will reverse the injustice inflicted upon them. Babylon, which carried Judah into exile, would itself fall to the Medes and Persians. The larger pattern anticipates the righteous reign of Christ over every hostile power and the future reign of His faithful people with Him (Revelation 11:15; 20:4).
