1Then the LORD said this to Job: 2“Shall he that contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him that rebukes God answer Me.” 3Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 4“Behold, I am vile and unworthy; how shall I answer You? I will put my hand over my mouth. 5I have spoken once; but I will not answer; yea, twice; but I will say no more.” 6Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7“Prepare to answer Me now like a man; I will question you, and you must answer Me. 8Will you annul My justice? Will you condemn Me, to justify yourself? 9Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His? 10Adorn yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and splendor. 11Give vent to your wrath; and look at every one that is proud, and abase him. 12Look at all who are arrogant, and bring them low; and tread down the wicked where they stand. 13Bury them together in the dust; and cover their faces in the grave. 14Then will I Myself will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.” 15“Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you. It eats grass like an ox. 16What strength it has in its loins, and what power in the muscles of its belly! 17It moves its tail like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are knit together. 18Its bones are like strong pieces of bronze; its limbs are like bars of iron. 19It ranks first among the works of God (in size and might); only He Who made him can approach him with His sword. 20Surely the mountains offer it their best food, where all the wild animals of the field play. 21It lies under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and marsh. 22The lotus trees give it shade; the willows of the brook surround it. 23Behold, though the river rages, it is unperturbed, confident that it can drink all of it into its mouth. 24No one catch it off guard; or puts a ring in its nose to lead it away.”
