He calls to the heavens from above, and to the earth, for the judging of His people:

“Gather to Me My holy ones, those having cut a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

And let the heavens declare His righteousness—for God Himself is Judge. Selah

“Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God.

It is not over your sacrifices that I rebuke you, or your burnt offerings before me continually.

I will not take a bull from your house or male goats from your folds.

For every living thing of the forest is unto Me, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

I know every bird of the mountains, and the wild beast of the field is unto Me.

If I were hungry, I would not say it to you, for the world and its fullness is to Me.

Do I eat the flesh of bulls, and do I drink the blood of goats?

Make a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God, and fulfill to the Most High your vows.

And call on Me in the day of distress, and I will rescue you, and you will glorify Me.”

And to the wicked God says, “What to you is to recount My statutes, and to lift up My covenant upon your mouth?

And you have hated instruction, and cast My words behind you!

If you see a thief, then you are pleased with him, and your portion is with those committing adultery.

With your mouth you send forth evil, and your tongue weaves deceit.

You sit against your brother and speak; against the son of your mother you place fault.

These things you have done, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. I will rebuke you and set in array before your eyes.

Understand this, please, you forgetting God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there is no one to deliver!

The one making a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me, and he who sets his path, I will make to look on the salvation of God.”
