16 Shabbethai (sabbatical) and Jozabad (YHWH has endowed), two leaders of the Levites, who supervised the work outside the house of God {Elohim}; 17 Mattaniah (gift of YHWH) son of Mica (who is like God), the son of Zabdi (endowment), the son of Asaph (gatherer), who led in thanksgiving and prayer; Bakbukiah (wasting of YHWH), second among his associates; and Abda (servant of YHWH) son of Shammua (renowned), the son of Galal (influential), the son of Jeduthun (praising). 18 The Levites in the holy city totaled 284. 19 And the gatekeepers: Akkub (insidious), Talmon (oppressor), and their associates, who kept watch at the gates—172 men. 20 The rest of the Israelites (God prevails), with the priests and Levites, were in all the villages of Judah (praised), each on his own inheritance. 21 The temple servants lived on the hill of Ophel (hill), with Ziha (parched) and Gishpa (caress) over them. 22 Now the overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem (city of peace) was Uzzi (strong) son of Bani (built), the son of Hashabiah (YHWH has considered), the son of Mattaniah (gift of YHWH), the son of Mica (Micaiah). He was one of Asaph’s (gatherer) descendants, who were the singers in charge of the service of the house of God {Elohim}. 23 For there was a command from the king concerning the singers, an ordinance regulating their daily activities. 24 Pethahiah (freed by YHWH) son of Meshezabel (God delivers), a descendant of Zerah (rising) son of Judah (praised), was the king’s agent \hand/ in every matter concerning the people. 25 As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Judah (praised) lived in Kiriath-arba (city of Arba), Dibon (wasting), Jekabzeel (God gathers), and their villages; 26 in Jeshua (he is saved), Moladah (birth / race), and Beth-pelet (house of escape); 27 in Hazar-shual (jackal village); in Beersheba (well of seven) and its villages; 28 in Ziklag (winding); in Meconah (foundation) and its villages; 29 in En-rimmon (fount of the pomegranate), Zorah (hornet), Jarmuth (heights), 30 Zanoah (cast off), Adullam (justice of the people), and their villages; in Lachish (invincible) and its fields; and in Azekah (dug over) and its villages. So they settled from Beersheba (well of seven) all the way to the Valley of Hinnom (lamentation). 31 The descendants of Benjamin (son of the right hand) from Geba (hill) lived in Michmash (hidden), Aija (heap of ruins), and Bethel (house of God) with its villages; 32 in Anathoth (answers to prayer), Nob (high place), Ananiah (YHWH clouds), 33 Hazor (castle), Ramah (hill), Gittaim (two winepresses), 34 Hadid (sharp), Zeboim (speckled), Neballat (hidden folly), 35 Lod (travail), and Ono (vigorous); and in the Valley of the Craftsmen \in Ge-harashim/. 36 And some divisions of the Levites of Judah (praised) settled in Benjamin (son of the right hand).
