12 I was at ease, and He broke me; and He seized me by my neck and shattered me, and stood me up for Him as a target. 13 His archers circle round against me; He splits my kidneys and does not spare; He pours out my gall on the ground. 14 He breaches me, breach upon face of the breach; He runs upon me like a warrior. 15 I have sewn sackcloth over my skin, and I have thrust my horn into the dust. 16 My face is red from weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death, 17 although violence is not in my hands, and my prayer is pure. 18 O earth, may you not cover my blood, and let there not be a place for my cry! 19 Even now, behold! My testimony is in the heavens, and my witness is in the heights. 20 My friends are mocking me; my eye pours out to God. 21 And he reasons for a man with God, and as a son of man for his friend. 22 For the years of my number have come, and the path of no return I shall walk.
