1 And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold a man, with a measuring line in his hand. And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 And I said: Whither goest thou? and he said to me: To measure Jerusalem, and to see how great is the breadth thereof, and how great the length thereof. Then I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.” I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”
3 And behold the angel that spoke in me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him. And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him
4 And he said to him: Run, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls, by reason of the multitude of men, and of the beasts in the midst thereof. and said to him, “Run, say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it. and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.
5 And I will be to it, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about: and I will be in glory in the midst thereof. And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
6 O, O flee ye out of the land of the north, saith the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, saith the Lord. Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the LORD. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the LORD. “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
7 O Sion, flee, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon: Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!”
8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts: After the glory he hath sent me to the nations that have robbed you: for he that toucheth you, toucheth the apple of my eye: For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—
9 For behold I lift up my hand upon them, and they shall be a prey to those that served them: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts sent me. “Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.
10 Sing praise, and rejoice, O daughter of Sion: for behold I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: saith the Lord. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD. “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the LORD.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to thee. And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. “Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.
12 And the Lord shall possess Juda his portion in the sanctified land: and he shall yet choose Jerusalem. And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.” The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.
13 Let all flesh be silent at the presence of the Lord: for he is risen up out of his .holy habitation. Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling. Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”
