1 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw, and behold, a man, and in his hand was a measuring line. And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 And I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, so that I may see how great its width and how great its length may be.” Then I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.” I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”
3 And behold, the angel, who had been speaking with me, departed, and another angel went out to meet him. And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him
4 And he said to him: Hurry, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls, because of the multitude of men and beasts of burden in its midst. and said to him, “Run, say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it. and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.
5 And I will be to it, says the Lord, a wall of fire all around. And in glory, I will be in its midst. And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
6 O, O flee from the land of the North, says the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, says the Lord. Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the LORD. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the LORD. “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the LORD.
7 O Zion, flee, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!”
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: After the glory, he has sent me to the Gentiles, which have despoiled you. For he who touches you, touches the pupil of my eye. For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye: For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—
9 For behold, I lift up my hand over them, and they will be a prey to those who had served them. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me. “Behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.
10 Sing praise and rejoice, daughter of Zion. For behold, I approach, and I will dwell in your midst, says the Lord. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD. “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the LORD.
11 And many nations will be joined to the Lord in that day, and they will be my people, and I will dwell in your midst. And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you. And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. “Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.
12 And the Lord will possess his portion, Judah, in the sanctified land, and still he will single out Jerusalem. And the LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.” The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.
13 Let all flesh be silent before the face of the Lord: for he has arisen from his holy dwelling place. Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling. Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”
