1 The burden of the word of YHWH against Israel. Thus says YHWH, the One stretching out the heavens, and founding the earth, and forming the spirit of man within him: The oracle of the word of the LORD concerning Israel: Thus declares the LORD, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him: A prophecy: The word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:
2 “Behold, I am setting Jerusalem as a cup of drunkenness for all the peoples round about. Even against Judah it will be in the siege and against Jerusalem. “Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.
3 And it will come to pass in that day, that I will set Jerusalem as a stone of burden for all the peoples; all loading it will be severely cut. They will gather against it—all the nations of the earth. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.
4 On that day, a declaration of YHWH, I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness. And upon the house of Judah I will keep open My eyes, and every horse of the peoples I will strike with blindness. On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the LORD. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations.
5 And the clans of Judah will say in their heart, ‘Strength for those dwelling in Jerusalem is in YHWH of Hosts, their God.’ Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the LORD of hosts, their God.’ Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.’
6 On that day I will set the clans of Judah as a basin of fire among the trees, and as a torch of fire among the sheaves; and they will devour on the right and on the left all the peoples round about, and Jerusalem will dwell again in her place, in Jerusalem. “On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem. “On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.
7 And YHWH will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of those dwelling in Jerusalem will not become great beyond Judah. “And the LORD will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah. “The LORD will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.
8 On that day YHWH will cover over those dwelling in Jerusalem, and the one stumbling among them will be on that day like David, and the house of David like God, like the angel of YHWH, before their faces! On that day the LORD will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the LORD, going before them. On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD going before them.
9 And it will come to pass on that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations who are coming against Jerusalem. And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.
10 And I will pour out on the house of David and on those dwelling in Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication, and they will look on Me, whom they have pierced. And they will mourn for Him, like the mourning over the only one, and grieving over Him like the grieving over a firstborn. “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
11 On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be great, like the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
12 And the land will mourn, clans by clans, each by itself; the clan of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the clan of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; The land shall mourn, each family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; The land will mourn, each clan by itself, with their wives by themselves: the clan of the house of David and their wives, the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives,
13 the clan of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the clan of Shimei by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves; the clan of the house of Levi and their wives, the clan of Shimei and their wives,
14 all the clans remaining, clans by clans, each by itself, and their wives by themselves. and all the families that are left, each by itself, and their wives by themselves. and all the rest of the clans and their wives.
