1 “ On that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David, and for those dwelling in Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity. “On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness. “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.
2 And it will come to pass on that day, a declaration of YHWH of Hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will not be remembered anymore; and also the prophets and the spirit of impurity I will make pass from the land. “And on that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more. And also I will remove from the land the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness. “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the LORD Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
3 And it will come to pass, if a man prophesies still, that his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You will not live, for you have spoken deception in the name of YHWH.’ And his father and mother who bore him will pierce him through at his prophesying. And if anyone again prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of the LORD.’ And his father and mother who bore him shall pierce him through when he prophesies. And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the LORD’s name.’ Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.
4 And it will come to pass in that day, that will feel shame the prophets, each man from his vision, in his prophesying; and they will not clothe themselves with a cloak of hair in order to deceive. “On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive, “On that day every prophet will be ashamed of their prophetic vision. They will not put on a prophet’s garment of hair in order to deceive.
5 And he will say, ‘I am not a prophet; I am a farmer working the land, for a man acquired me in my youth. but he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a worker of the soil, for a man sold me in my youth.’ Each will say, ‘I am not a prophet. I am a farmer; the land has been my livelihood since my youth.’
6 And if it is said to him, ‘What are these wounds between your hands?’ He will answer, ‘Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.’ And if one asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your back?’ he will say, ‘The wounds I received in the house of my friends.’ If someone asks, ‘What are these wounds on your body?’ they will answer, ‘The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.’
7 O Sword, awake against My shepherd, and against a man, My companion, a declaration of YHWH of hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My hand against the little ones! “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who stands next to me,” declares the LORD of hosts. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones. “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
8 And it will come to pass, in all the land, a declaration of YHWH, a measure that two in it will be cut off and die, and the third will remain in it. In the whole land, declares the LORD, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive. In the whole land,” declares the LORD, “two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.
9 And I will bring the third through the fire, and I will refine them like the refining of silver, and I will test them like the testing of gold. He will call on my name, and I will answer him. I will say, ‘It is My people,’ and he will say, ‘YHWH is My God.’” And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’” This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”
