Ask from YHWH the rain in the time of the spring rain; and YHWH, the One making the storm clouds, He will give to them the shower of rain, to each man the herb in the field. Ask rain from the LORD in the season of the spring rain, from the LORD who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field. Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.
For the teraphim speak delusion, and the diviners see deception, and they speak of dreams of emptiness; in vain they give comfort. Upon thus they set out like sheep; they are afflicted because there is no shepherd. For the household gods utter nonsense, and the diviners see lies; they tell false dreams and give empty consolation. Therefore the people wander like sheep; they are afflicted for lack of a shepherd. The idols speak deceitfully, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.
“Against the shepherds, My anger is kindled; and against the he-goats, I lay a charge. But YHWH of Hosts will attend to His flock, the house of Judah, and He will set them as a horse of His splendor in the battle. “My anger is hot against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders; for the LORD of hosts cares for his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them like his majestic steed in battle. “My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders; for the LORD Almighty will care for his flock, the people of Judah, and make them like a proud horse in battle.
From him is the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the bow of battle; from him comes every ruler together. From him shall come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler—all of them together. From Judah will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler.
And they will be like mighty ones, trampling in the mud of the streets in the battle; and they will fight, for YHWH is with them, and they will put to shame the riders of horses. They shall be like mighty men in battle, trampling the foe in the mud of the streets; they shall fight because the LORD is with them, and they shall put to shame the riders on horses. Together they will be like warriors in battle trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets. They will fight because the LORD is with them, and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.
And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and the house of Joseph I will save; and I will bring them back because I have compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not cast them aside. For I am YHWH their God, and I will answer them. “I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back because I have compassion on them, and they shall be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God and I will answer them. “I will strengthen Judah and save the tribes of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them. They will be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God and I will answer them.
And Ephraim will become like a mighty one, and their heart will be glad as with wine; and their children will see it and will be glad; their heart will rejoice in YHWH. Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in the LORD. The Ephraimites will become like warriors, and their hearts will be glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will rejoice in the LORD.
I will whistle for them and gather them, for I have redeemed them; and they will be many, as they were many. “I will whistle for them and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, and they shall be as many as they were before. I will signal for them and gather them in. Surely I will redeem them; they will be as numerous as before.
And I will sow them among the peoples, and in far-off places they will remember Me; and they will live together with their sons, and they will return. Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and with their children they shall live and return. Though I scatter them among the peoples, yet in distant lands they will remember me. They and their children will survive, and they will return.
And I will bring them back from the land of Egypt, and from Assyria I will gather them, and to the lands of Gilead and Lebanon I will bring them, until no place can be found for them. I will bring them home from the land of Egypt, and gather them from Assyria, and I will bring them to the land of Gilead and to Lebanon, till there is no room for them. I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them to Gilead and Lebanon, and there will not be room enough for them.
And He will pass through the sea of distress, and He will strike the waves of that sea, and He will dry up all the depths of the River. And the pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart. He shall pass through the sea of troubles and strike down the waves of the sea, and all the depths of the Nile shall be dried up. The pride of Assyria shall be laid low, and the scepter of Egypt shall depart. They will pass through the sea of trouble; the surging sea will be subdued and all the depths of the Nile will dry up. Assyria’s pride will be brought down and Egypt’s scepter will pass away.
And I will make them mighty in YHWH, and in His name they will walk,” a declaration of YHWH. I will make them strong in the LORD, and they shall walk in his name,” declares the LORD. I will strengthen them in the LORD and in his name they will live securely,” declares the LORD.
