1 But you—speak what is suitable [according] to the sound teaching. But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
2 Elders [are] to be temperate, dignified, sober, sound in faith, in the love, in the endurance. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Aged women, in like manner, in behavior as becomes sacred persons, not false accusers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of good things, Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 that they may make the young women sober-minded, to be lovers of [their] husbands, lovers of [their] children, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5 sober, pure, keepers of [their own] houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that evil may not be spoken of the word of God. to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6 The younger men, in like manner, exhort [them] to be sober-minded. Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
7 Concerning all things, present yourself [as] a pattern of good works—in the teaching [with] uncorruptedness, dignity, Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness
8 sound discourse [that is] blameless, so that he who is of the contrary may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you. and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Servants [are] to be subject to their own masters, to be well-pleasing in all things, not contradicting, Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
10 not stealing, but showing all good steadfastness, that the teaching of God our Savior they may adorn in all things. not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11 For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men, For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
12 teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, we may live soberly, and righteously, and piously in the present age, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

15 Speak these things, and exhort and convict with all authority; let no one despise you! Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
