1 BEING justified therefore by faith, let us have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 By whom also we have access through faith into this grace, wherein we stand, and glory in the hope of the glory of the sons of God. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so; but we glory also in tribulations, knowing that tribulation worketh patience; Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 And patience trial; and trial hope; and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope confoundeth not: because the charity of God is poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Ghost, who is given to us. and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
6 For why did Christ, when as yet we were weak, according to the time, die for the ungodly? For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarce for a just man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man some one would dare to die. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his charity towards us; because when as yet we were sinners, according to the time, but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Christ died for us; much more therefore, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from wrath through him. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
11 And not only so; but also we glory in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received reconciliation. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
12 Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this world, and by sin death; and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
13 For until the law sin was in the world; but sin was not imputed, when the law was not. for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.
14 But death reigned from Adam unto Moses, even over them also who have not sinned after the similitude of the transgression of Adam, who is a figure of him who was to come. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also the gift. For if by the offence of one, many died; much more the grace of God, and the gift, by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
16 And not as it was by one sin, so also is the gift. For judgment indeed was by one unto condemnation; but grace is of many offences, unto justification. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned through one; much more they who receive abundance of grace, and of the gift, and of justice, shall reign in life through one, Jesus Christ. For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
18 Therefore, as by the offence of one, unto all men to condemnation; so also by the justice of one, unto all men to justification of life. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
19 For as by the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners; so also by the obedience of one, many shall be made just. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20 Now the law entered in, that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
21 That as sin hath reigned to death; so also grace might reign by justice unto life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord. so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
