1 I exhort you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, your reasonable service: I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
2 and he not fashioned after this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3 For I speak, through the grace which has been given unto me, for every one who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, as God has imparted to each one the measure of faith. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
4 For we indeed have many members in one body, but all the members have not the same office: For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and members one of another. so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
6 But having gifts differing according to the grace given unto us, whether prophecy, it is according to the analogy of faith; Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;
7 or ministry, it is in the ministry; or he that teacheth, in teaching; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
8 or he that exhorteth, in exhortation; or he that giveth, with a single eye; he that presideth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
9 Let love be free from hypocrisy. Abhorring the evil, cleaving to the good: Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
11 not slothful in business; boiling over in spirit; serving the Lord; Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing steadfastly in prayer; Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 communicating to necessities of the saints; pursuing hospitality. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and scold not. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
15 Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
16 Have the same mind toward one another, not thinking high things, but condescending to the humble. Be not wise in your own conceits. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Returning to no one evil for evil; providing things beautiful in the sight of all men. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.
18 If possible, so far as it is within your power, living in peace with all men; If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
19 avenging not yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it has been written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink: for doing this you will heap coals of fire upon his head. To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Be not overcome by the evil, but overcome the evil with the good. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
