1 A PRAYER OF DAVID. Incline, O YHWH, Your ear, || Answer me, for I [am] poor and needy. Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Keep my soul, for I [am] pious, || Save Your servant who is trusting to You, O You, my God. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;
3 Favor me, O Lord, for I call to You all the day. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
4 Make glad the soul of Your servant, || For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.
5 For You, Lord, [are] good and forgiving, || And abundant in kindness to all calling You. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
6 Hear, O YHWH, my prayer, || And attend to the voice of my supplications. Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
7 In a day of my distress I call You, || For You answer me. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.
8 There is none like You among the gods, O Lord, || And like Your works there are none. There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
9 All nations that You have made || Come and bow themselves before You, O Lord, || And give honor to Your Name. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
10 For You [are] great, and doing wonders, || You [are] God alone. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
11 Show me, O YHWH, Your way, || I walk in Your truth, || My heart rejoices to fear Your Name. Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
12 I confess You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, || And I honor Your Name for all time. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
13 For Your kindness [is] great toward me, || And You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.
14 O God, the proud have risen up against me, || And a company of the terrible sought my soul, || And have not placed You before them, O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you.
15 And You, O Lord, [are] God, merciful and gracious, || Slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth. But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
16 Look to me, and favor me, || Give Your strength to Your servant, || And give salvation to a son of Your handmaid. Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.
17 Do with me a sign for good, || And those hating me see and are ashamed, || For You, O YHWH, have helped me, || Indeed, You have comforted me! Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
