1 For the music director; to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a psalm of Asaph, a song. God has revealed himself in Judah; in Israel his reputation is great. In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song. God is renowned in Judah; in Israel his name is great.
2 He lives in Salem; he dwells in Zion. His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There he shattered the arrows, the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. (Selah) There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah There he broke the flashing arrows, the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.
4 You shine brightly and reveal your majesty, as you descend from the hills where you killed your prey. Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. You are radiant with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game.

The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. The valiant lie plundered, they sleep their last sleep; not one of the warriors can lift his hands.
6 At the sound of your battle cry, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse |fell asleep.| At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.
7 You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger? But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?
8 From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. The earth was afraid and silent From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet—
9 when God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah) when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Selah when you, God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land.
10 Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure. Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant of wrath you will put on like a belt. Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
11 Make vows to the LORD your God and repay them! Let all those who surround him bring tribute to the awesome one! Make your vows to the LORD your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared, Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.
12 He humbles princes; the kings of the earth regard him as awesome. who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is to be feared by the kings of the earth. He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth.
