For the music director; according to the al-tashcheth style; a psalm of Asaph; a song. We give thanks to you, O God! We give thanks! You reveal your presence; people tell about your amazing deeds. We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds. For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm of Asaph. A song. We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.
God says, |At the appointed times, I judge fairly. “At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity. You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.
When the earth and all its inhabitants dissolve in fear, I make its pillars secure.| (Selah) When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants, it is I who keep steady its pillars. Selah When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.
I say to the proud, |Do not be proud,| and to the wicked, |Do not be so confident of victory! I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn; To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.
Do not be so certain you have won! Do not speak with your head held so high! do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’” Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’”
For victory does not come from the east or west, or from the wilderness. For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves.
For God is the judge! He brings one down and exalts another. but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.
For the LORD holds in his hand a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices, and pours it out. Surely all the wicked of the earth will slurp it up and drink it to its very last drop.| For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed, and he pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs. In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.
As for me, I will continually tell what you have done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob! But I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
God says, |I will bring down all the power of the wicked; the godly will be victorious.| All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up. who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”
