1 {To the chief Musician. A Song: a Psalm.} Shout aloud unto God, all the earth: Shout for joy to God, all the earth; For the director of music. A song. A psalm. Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
2 Sing forth the glory of his name, make his praise glorious; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.
3 Say unto God, How terrible are thy works! because of the greatness of thy strength, thine enemies come cringing unto thee. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.
4 All the earth shall worship thee, and sing psalms unto thee: they shall sing forth thy name. Selah. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing the praises of your name.”
5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in [his] doings toward the children of men. Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!
6 He turned the sea into dry [land]; they went through the river on foot: there did we rejoice in him. He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot— come, let us rejoice in him.
7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes observe the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations— let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations— let not the rebellious rise up against him.
8 Bless our God, ye peoples, and make the voice of his praise to be heard; Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;
9 Who hath set our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip. he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.
10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver.
11 Thou broughtest us into a net, thou didst lay a heavy burden upon our loins; You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs.
12 Thou didst cause men to ride over our head; we went through fire and through water: but thou hast brought us out into abundance. you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.
13 I will go into thy house with burnt-offerings; I will perform my vows to thee, I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will perform my vows to you, I will come to your temple with burnt offerings and fulfill my vows to you—
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble. that which my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer up unto thee burnt-offerings of fatted beasts, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah. I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals, with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams; I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah I will sacrifice fat animals to you and an offering of rams; I will offer bulls and goats.
16 Come, hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.
17 I called unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue.
18 Had I regarded iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not hear. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;
19 But God hath heard; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my prayer, nor his loving-kindness from me! Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me! Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
