1 A song, a psalm by the Korahites. The LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise in the city of our God, his holy hill. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.
2 It is lofty and pleasing to look at, a source of joy to the whole earth. Mount Zion resembles the peaks of Zaphon; it is the city of the great king. beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King. Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King.
3 God is in its fortresses; he reveals himself as its defender. Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress. God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress.
4 For look, the kings assemble; they advance together. For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together,
5 As soon as they see, they are shocked; they are terrified, they quickly retreat. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight. they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror.
6 Look at them shake uncontrollably, like a woman writhing in childbirth. Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor. Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor.

(Selah) As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. 9 We reflect on your loyal love, O God, within your temple. We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 The praise you receive as far away as the ends of the earth is worthy of your reputation, O God. You execute justice! As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices; the towns of Judah are happy, because of your acts of judgment. Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments! Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.
12 Walk around Zion! Encircle it! Count its towers! Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers,
13 Consider its defenses! Walk through its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.
