1 TO THE OVERSEER. BY SONS OF KORAH. FOR GIRLS’ [VOICES]. A SONG. God [is] our refuge and strength, || A most sure help in adversities. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we do not fear in the changing of earth, || And in the slipping of mountains || Into the heart of the seas. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 Roar—troubled are its waters, || Mountains shake in its pride. Selah. though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 A river—its streams make glad the city of God, || Your holy place of the dwelling places of the Most High. 5 God [is] in her midst—she is not moved, God helps her at the turn of the morning! God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations have been troubled, || Kingdoms have been moved, || He has given forth with His voice—earth melts. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 YHWH of Hosts [is] with us, || The God of Jacob [is] a tower for us. Selah. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come, see the works of YHWH, || Who has done astonishing things in the earth, Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. Come and see what the LORD has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 Causing wars to cease, || To the end of the earth, He shatters the bow, || And He has cut apart the spear, || He burns chariots with fire. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
10 Desist, and know that I [am] God, || I am exalted among nations, || I am exalted in the earth. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 YHWH of hosts [is] with us, || The God of Jacob [is] a tower for us! Selah. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
