1 For the one directing. According to “The Lilies.” Of the sons of Korah. A Maskil. A song of love. My heart is stirred by a good word; I am telling my works, O king; my tongue is the pen of a swift scribe. My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song. My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
2 You are beautiful above the sons of man; favor is poured out from your lips; upon thus God has blessed you forever. You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever. You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.
3 Gird your sword upon the thigh, O mighty one, with your majesty and splendor! Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty! Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
4 And in your splendor prosper! Ride forth upon a word of truth and gentleness and justice; and your right hand will teach you fearful things. In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds! In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds.
5 Your arrows are sharp—the peoples fall under you—in the heart of the enemies of the king. Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; the peoples fall under you. Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.
6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
7 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; upon thus, God, your God has anointed you with the oil of joy above your companions. you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
8 All your garments are with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from the palaces of ivory, the harps have made you glad. your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.
9 Daughters of kings are among your precious ones; the queen stands at your right hand, in gold of Ophir. daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.
10 Hear, O daughter, and see; and incline your ear, and forget your people and the house of your father. Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father’s house, Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house.
11 For the king himself desires your beauty, because he is your lord—and bow to him— and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him. Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.
12 and the daughter of Tyre, with a gift; the rich among the people, will seek your face. The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people. The city of Tyre will come with a gift, people of wealth will seek your favor.
13 All glorious is the daughter of the king inside; her clothing is with weavings of gold. All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold. All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.
14 In various colors she is brought to the king; the virgins following her, companions of hers, shall be brought to you. In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following behind her. In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her— those brought to be with her.
15 They are brought along with joy and rejoicing; they shall come into the palace of the king. With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the king.
16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons, whom you shall make to be princes in all the earth. In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.
17 I will cause your name to be remembered through all generations; upon thus the people will praise you forever and ever. I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever. I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
