1 [For the choir director; a psalm by David.] The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made. 5 which comes out of its chamber like a bridegroom. 6 It rises from one end of the heavens. It circles around to the other. Nothing is hidden from its heat. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
7 The teachings of the LORD are perfect. They renew the soul. The testimony of the LORD is dependable. It makes gullible people wise. The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The instructions of the LORD are correct. They make the heart rejoice. The command of the LORD is radiant. It makes the eyes shine. the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. 9 The fear of the LORD is pure. It endures forever. The decisions of the LORD are true. 10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the drippings from a honeycomb. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.
11 As your servant I am warned by them. There is a great reward in following them. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can notice every mistake? Forgive my hidden faults. Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep me from sinning. Do not let anyone gain control over me. Then I will be blameless, and I will be free from any great offense. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words from my mouth and the thoughts from my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my defender. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
