<V 15:1>The inscription of a title: of David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, because I have hoped in you. Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. A miktam of David. Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
<V 15:2>I have said to the Lord: “You are my God, so you have no need of my goodness.” I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
<V 15:3>As for the saints, who are in his land: he has made all my desires wonderful in them. As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
<V 15:4>Their infirmities have been multiplied; after this, they acted more quickly. I will not gather for their convocations of blood, nor will I remember their names with my lips. The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.
<V 15:5>The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. It is you who will restore my inheritance to me. The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
<V 15:6>The lots have fallen upon me with clarity. And, indeed, my inheritance has been very clear to me. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
<V 15:7>I will bless the Lord, who has bestowed understanding upon me. Moreover, my temperament has also corrected me, even through the night. I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
<V 15:8>I have made provision for the Lord always in my sight. For he is at my right hand, so that I may not be disturbed. I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
<V 15:9>Because of this, my heart has been joyful, and my tongue has exulted. Moreover, even my body will rest in hope. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
<V 15:10>For you will not abandon my soul to Hell, nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
<V 15:11>You have made known to me the ways of life; you will fill me with joy by your countenance. At your right hand are delights, even to the end. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
