1 Prayse ye the Lorde, for it is a good thyng: sing psalmes vnto our Lorde, for it is a pleasaunt thing, his praise is to be desired. Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 God buildeth vp Hierusalem: he wyll gather together the Israelites that were banished. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He healeth those that are broken in heart: he wrappeth vp their sorowes. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4 He counteth the number of the starres: he geueth vnto them all names. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lorde, and great is his power: his vnderstandyng is infinite. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
6 God setteth vp the meeke: he bringeth the vngodly downe to the grounde. The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground. The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Syng ye vnto God with a confession: syng psalmes vpon the Harpe vnto our Lorde. Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.
8 Who couereth the heauen with cloudes: who prepareth rayne for the earth, who maketh grasse to growe vppon the mountaynes. He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills. He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 He geueth vnto cattell their foode: euen vnto Rauens which call for it. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
10 He hath no pleasure in the strength of an horse: he delighteth not in the legges of a man. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 God delyghteth in them that feare him: and in them that put their trust in his mercie. but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
12 Prayse God O Hierusalem: prayse thy Lorde O Sion. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! Extol the LORD, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
13 For he maketh fast the barres of thy gates: he blesseth thy children within thee. For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you. He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
14 He maketh peace in thy borders: he fylleth thee with good corne. He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat. He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 He sendeth foorth his commaundement vpon the earth: his word runneth very swiftly. He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
16 He geueth snowe so whyte as wooll: he scattereth the hoare frost like asshes. He gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes. He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 He casteth foorth his yse lyke fragmentes: who is able to abide his frost? He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold? He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sendeth foorth his worde and melteth them: he bloweth with his winde, and the waters flowe. He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 He declareth his worde vnto Iacob: his statutes & ordinaunces vnto Israel. He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and rules to Israel. He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He hath not dealt so with euery nation: neither haue they the knowledge of his iudgementes. Prayse ye the Lorde. He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his rules. Praise the LORD! He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.
