Chanting to David. O Jehovah, hear my prayer, give ear to my supplication: in thy faithfulness answer me; in thy justice. Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness! A psalm of David. LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
And thou wilt not come into judgment with thy servant, for all living shall not be justified before thee. Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you. Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.
For the enemy pursued my soul; he crushed to the earth my life; he caused me to dwell in darknesses, as the dead of old. For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead. The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in the darkness like those long dead.
And my spirit will languish upon me, and my heart will be desolate within me. Therefore my spirit faints within me; my heart within me is appalled. So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.
I remembered the days of old and I meditated in all thy work, and I will meditate upon the work of thy hands. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.
I spread out my hands to thee: my soul as a weary land for thee. Silence. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land.
Quickly answer me, O Jehovah: my spirit failed: thou wilt not hide thy face from me: I was made like those going down to the pit. Answer me quickly, O LORD! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit. Answer me quickly, LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for in thee I trusted: cause me to know the way that I shall go; for to thee I lifted up my soul. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
Deliver me from mine enemies, O Jehovah: to thee I covered myself. Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD! I have fled to you for refuge. Rescue me from my enemies, LORD, for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do thine acceptance, for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; thou wilt guide me into a land of uprightness. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
For sake of thy name, O Jehovah, thou wilt make me live: in thy justice thou wilt bring forth my soul out of straits. For your name’s sake, O LORD, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble! For your name’s sake, LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
And in thy mercy thou wilt cut off mine enemies, and thou destroyedst all those pressing my soul: for I am thy servant. And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.
