I took my troubles to the LORD; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Rescue me, O LORD, from liars and from all deceitful people. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
O deceptive tongue, what will God do to you? How will he increase your punishment? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
You will be pierced with sharp arrows and burned with glowing coals. A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
How I suffer in far-off Meshech. It pains me to live in distant Kedar. Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
I am tired of living among people who hate peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I search for peace; but when I speak of peace, they want war! I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
