A song of ascents. In my distress I cried out to the LORD and he answered me. In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. A song of ascents. I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
I said, |O LORD, rescue me from those who lie with their lips and those who deceive with their tongue. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
How will he severely punish you, you deceptive talker? What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue?
Here's how! With the sharp arrows of warriors, with arrowheads forged over the hot coals. A warrior’s sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.
How miserable I am! For I have lived temporarily in Meshech; I have resided among the tents of Kedar. Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
For too long I have had to reside with those who hate peace. Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I am committed to peace, but when I speak, they want to make war. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war! I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
