כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין הָאִ֣ישׁ בְּבֵית֑וֹ הָ֝לַ֗ךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ מֵרָחֽוֹק׃ | For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; | My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey. |
צְֽרוֹר־ הַ֭כֶּסֶף לָקַ֣ח בְּיָד֑וֹ לְי֥וֹם הַ֝כֵּ֗סֶא יָבֹ֥א בֵיתֽוֹ׃ | he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.” | He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till full moon.” |
הִ֭טַּתּוּ בְּרֹ֣ב לִקְחָ֑הּ בְּחֵ֥לֶק שְׂ֝פָתֶ֗יהָ תַּדִּיחֶֽנּוּ׃ | With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. | With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. |
ה֤וֹלֵ֥ךְ אַחֲרֶ֗יהָ פִּ֫תְאֹ֥ם כְּ֭שׁוֹר אֶל־ טָ֣בַח יָב֑וֹא וּ֝כְעֶ֗כֶס אֶל־ מוּסַ֥ר אֱוִֽיל׃ | All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast | All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose |
עַ֤ד יְפַלַּ֪ח חֵ֡ץ כְּֽבֵד֗וֹ כְּמַהֵ֣ר צִפּ֣וֹר אֶל־ פָּ֑ח וְלֹֽא־ יָ֝דַ֗ע כִּֽי־ בְנַפְשׁ֥וֹ הֽוּא׃ פ | till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. | till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. |
