1 My son, watch my words, and thou shalt hide my commands with thee. My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.
2 Watch my commands, and live; and my law as the pupil of thine eyes. keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, and write them upon the tablet of thine heart. bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Say to wisdom, Thou my sister; and thou shalt call knowledge to understanding: Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call insight your intimate friend, Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and to insight, “You are my relative.”
5 To watch thyself from the strange woman, from the stranger making smooth her sayings. to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words. They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words.
6 For in the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice, For at the window of my house I have looked out through my lattice, At the window of my house I looked down through the lattice.
7 And I shall see among the simple, I shall perceive among the sons a youth wanting heart, and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths, a young man lacking sense, I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense.

12 One time without, one time in the broad ways; and she will lie in wait near every corner. now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait. now in the street, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks.)
13 She laid hold upon him and kissed to him; she strengthened her face, and she will say to him, She seizes him and kisses him, and with bold face she says to him, She took hold of him and kissed him and with a brazen face she said:
14 Sacrifices of peace upon me: today I repaid my vows. “I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows; “Today I fulfilled my vows, and I have food from my fellowship offering at home.
15 For this, I shall come forth to thy meeting, to seek thy face, and I shall find thee. so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you. So I came out to meet you; I looked for you and have found you!
16 With adornings I spread my bed, variegated with thread of Egypt. I have spread my couch with coverings, colored linens from Egyptian linen; I have covered my bed with colored linens from Egypt.
17 I sprinkled my bed with myrrh and aloes and cinnamon. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
18 Come, we will be satisfied with loves till the morning: we will rejoice ourselves with loves. Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love. Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning; let’s enjoy ourselves with love!
19 For the man not in the house, he went in a way far off. For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.
20 He took a bundle of silver in his hand; he will come to his house the day of the full moon. he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.” He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till full moon.”
21 With much of her talking she caused him to turn aside; with the smoothness of her lips she will thrust him away. With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22 He went after her suddenly as the ox will go to the slaughter, and as the fetter for the correction of the foolish. All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
23 Till an arrow shall cleave his liver; as a bird hastening to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul. till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.
24 And now, ye sons, hear to me, and attend to the sayings of my mouth. And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth. Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say.
25 And thy heart shall not deviate to her ways; thou shalt not wander in her beaten paths. Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths, Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths.
26 For she cast down many wounded, and the strong all being slain by her. for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng.
27 Her house the ways to hades, going down to the chambers of death. Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.
