1 And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses,
2 “Command the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you⁺ come into the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall to you⁺ as an inheritance—the land of Canaan to its boundaries: “Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders), “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries:
3 And your⁺ border on the Negev shall be from the Wilderness of Zin along the border of Edom, and your⁺ border on the Negev shall extend to the end of the Salt Sea eastward. your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin alongside Edom, and your southern border shall run from the end of the Salt Sea on the east. “’Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,
4 And your⁺ border shall turn from the Negev to the Ascent of Akrabbim and continue to Zin, and the going forth will be from the Negev to Kadesh-barnea, and it shall go on to Hazar-addar and continue to Azmon. And your border shall turn south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and cross to Zin, and its limit shall be south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon. cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,
5 And the border shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and will be its outer limits to the Sea. And the border shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and its limit shall be at the sea. where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 And as for the western border, the Great Sea shall be to you⁺ for a border; this shall be your⁺ western border. “For the western border, you shall have the Great Sea and its coast. This shall be your western border. “’Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This will be your boundary on the west.
7 And this shall be your⁺ northern border: From the Great Sea you⁺ shall mark out to you⁺ to Mount Hor. “This shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to Mount Hor. “’For your northern boundary, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor
8 From Mount Hor you⁺ shall mark out to Lebo-hamath; and the direction of the border shall be toward Zedad; From Mount Hor you shall draw a line to Lebo-hamath, and the limit of the border shall be at Zedad. and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zedad,
9 and the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar-enan. This shall be unto you⁺ the northern border. Then the border shall extend to Ziphron, and its limit shall be at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern border. continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 And you⁺ shall mark out your⁺ eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham, “You shall draw a line for your eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham. “’For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
11 and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain, and the border shall go down and reach to the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth. And the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain. And the border shall go down and reach to the shoulder of the Sea of Chinnereth on the east. The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.
12 And the border shall go down along the Jordan, and it shall end at the Salt Sea. This shall be to you⁺ the land with its boundaries all around.” And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its limit shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land as defined by its borders all around.” Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “’This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
13 And Moses commanded the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which YHWH has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe; Moses commanded the people of Israel, saying, “This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe. Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has ordered that it be given to the nine-and-a-half tribes,
14 for the tribe of the sons of the Reubenite has received according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the sons of the Gadite according to the house of their fathers, and the half-tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance. For the tribe of the people of Reuben by fathers’ houses and the tribe of the people of Gad by their fathers’ houses have received their inheritance, and also the half-tribe of Manasseh. because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.
15 The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrise.” The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise.” These two-and-a-half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”

17 “These are the names of the men who shall divide as an inheritance among you⁺ the land: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun. “These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
18 And one leader—one leader from a tribe—you⁺ shall take to distribute the land. You shall take one chief from every tribe to divide the land for inheritance. And appoint one leader from each tribe to help assign the land.
19 And these are the names of the men: From the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh; These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. These are their names: Caleb son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah;
20 and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shemuel son of Ammihud; Of the tribe of the people of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud. Shemuel son of Ammihud, from the tribe of Simeon;
21 from the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon; Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon. Elidad son of Kislon, from the tribe of Benjamin;
22 and from the tribe of the sons of Dan, a leader Bukki son of Jogli; Of the tribe of the people of Dan a chief, Bukki the son of Jogli. Bukki son of Jogli, the leader from the tribe of Dan;
23 from the sons of Joseph, from the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, a leader, Hanniel son of Ephod; Of the people of Joseph: of the tribe of the people of Manasseh a chief, Hanniel the son of Ephod. Hanniel son of Ephod, the leader from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph;
24 and from the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, a leader, Kemuel son of Shiphtan; And of the tribe of the people of Ephraim a chief, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan. Kemuel son of Shiphtan, the leader from the tribe of Ephraim son of Joseph;
25 and from the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, a leader, Elizaphan son of Parnach; Of the tribe of the people of Zebulun a chief, Elizaphan the son of Parnach. Elizaphan son of Parnak, the leader from the tribe of Zebulun;
26 and from the tribe of the sons of Issachar, a leader, Paltiel son of Azzan; Of the tribe of the people of Issachar a chief, Paltiel the son of Azzan. Paltiel son of Azzan, the leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27 and from the tribe of the sons of Asher, a leader, Ahihud son of Shelomi; And of the tribe of the people of Asher a chief, Ahihud the son of Shelomi. Ahihud son of Shelomi, the leader from the tribe of Asher;
28 and from the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, a leader, Pedahel son of Ammihud.” Of the tribe of the people of Naphtali a chief, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.” Pedahel son of Ammihud, the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29 These are those whom YHWH commanded among the sons of Israel to divide the inheritance in the land of Canaan. These are the men whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance for the people of Israel in the land of Canaan. These are the men the LORD commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
