1 This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham: The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

11 Josiah was the father of Jehoiachin and his brothers (born at the time of the exile to Babylon). and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 After the Babylonian exile: Jehoiachin was the father of Shealtiel. Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel. And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

15 Eliud was the father of Eleazar. Eleazar was the father of Matthan. Matthan was the father of Jacob. and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, Elihud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah. and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.
17 All those listed above include fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the Babylonian exile, and fourteen from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah. So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations. Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.
18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus. but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
