1 This is the booke of the generation of Iesus Christ, the sonne of Dauid, the sonne of Abraham. The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2 Abraham begat Isaac, Isaac begat Iacob, Iacob begat Iudas, and his brethren. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3 Iudas begat Phares, and Zara of Thamar, Phares begat Esrom, Esrom begat Aram. and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram,

6 Iesse begat Dauid the kyng, Dauid the kyng begat Solomon, of her that was the wyfe of Urie. and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah, and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife,

10 Ezekias begat Manasses, Manasses begat Amon, Amon begat Iosias. and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amos, and Amos the father of Josiah, Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,
11 Iosias begat Iacim, Iacim begat Iechonias and his brethren, about the tyme they were caryed away to Babylon. and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 And, after they were brought to Babylon, Iechonias begat Salathiel, Salathiel begat Zorobabel. And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 Zorobabel begat Abiud, Abiud begat Eliakim, Eliakim begat Azor. and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, Zerubbabel the father of Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,
14 Azor begat Sadoc, Sadoc begat Achen, Achen begat Eliud. and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Elihud,
15 Eliud begat Eleazar, Eleazar begat Matthan, Matthan begat Iacob. and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, Elihud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 Iacob begat Ioseph, the husband of Marie, of who was borne Iesus, that is called Christe. and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.
17 And so, all the generations from Abraham to Dauid, are fourteene generations: and from Dauid vntyll the carying away into Babylo, are fourteene generations: and fro the carying away into Babylon vnto Christe, are fourteene generations. So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations. Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.
18 The birth of Iesus Christe was on this wise. When as his mother Marie was betrouthed to Ioseph (before they came together) she was founde with chylde of the holy ghost. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
19 Then Ioseph her husbande, beyng a ryghteous man, and not wyllyng to make her a publique example, was mynded priuily to put her away. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But whyle he thought these thinges, beholde, the Angell of the Lord appeared vnto hym in a dreame, saying: Ioseph, thou sonne of Dauid, feare not to take vnto thee Marie thy wife, for that which is conceaued in her, is of the holy ghost. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 She shall bryng foorth a sonne, and thou shalt call his name Iesus: for he shall saue his people from their sinnes. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 (All this was done, that it myght be fulfilled, which was spoken of the lorde by the prophete, saying: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 Behold, a virgin shalbe with childe, and shall bryng foorth a sonne, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, whiche is by interpretation, God with vs.) “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
24 Then Ioseph, being raysed fro slepe, dyd as the Angel of the Lorde had bidden hym, and he toke his wyfe: When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
25 And knewe her not, tyll she hadde brought foorth her first borne sonne, & called his name Iesus. but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
