13 καὶ ἤγαγον πρὸς Ἅνναν πρῶτον ἦν γὰρ πενθερὸς τοῦ Καϊάφα ὃς ἦν ἀρχιερεὺς τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου First they led him to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.
14 ἦν δὲ Καϊάφας ὁ συμβουλεύσας τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ὅτι συμφέρει ἕνα ἄνθρωπον ἀποθανεῖν ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people. Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jewish leaders that it would be good if one man died for the people.
