1 AND Abram went up from Egypt, e and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb. So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.
3 And he went on his journey from the south as far as Beth-el, to the place where he had pitched his tent at first, between Beth-el and Ai; And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier
4 To the place of the altar which he had built there at the first; and there Abram had called upon the name of the LORD. to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the LORD. and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the LORD.
5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had large flocks, herds, and tents. And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents, Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6 And the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together; for their herds were so large that they could not dwell together. so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together, But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.
7 And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle; and the Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelt then in the land. and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land. And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.
8 And Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife between me and you, and between my shepherds and your shepherds; for we are brethren. Then Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen. So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.
9 Behold the whole land is before you, separate yourself from me; if you choose the left hand, then I will choose the right hand; or if you depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.” Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the land of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of God, like the land of Egypt at the entrance of Zoan. And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
11 Then Lot chose for himself all the land of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east; thus they separated one brother from the other. So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other. So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the villages of the plain, thus possessing the land as far as Sodom. Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.
13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners in the presence of the LORD exceedingly. Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the LORD. Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
14 And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.

16 And I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth; so that if you can number the dust of the earth, then shall your descendants also be numbered. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to you. Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
18 Then Abram removed his tent and came and dwelt by the oak of Mamre which is in Hebron, and built there an altar to the LORD So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD. So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the LORD.
