THEN I looked, and behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them something with the appearance of a sapphire stone, and the form of a throne. | Then I looked, and behold, on the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a sapphire, in appearance like a throne. | I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim. |
And the voice spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherubim; and fill your hand with the coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in my sight. | And he said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the whirling wheels underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in before my eyes. | The LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in. |
Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. | Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the house, when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. | Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court. |
Then the glory of God went up from the cherub that stood over the threshhold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD'S glory. | And the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD. | Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherubim and moved to the threshold of the temple. The cloud filled the temple, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the LORD. |
And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God when he speaks. | And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. | The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. |
And it came to pass, when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim; he went in and stood beside the wheels. | And when he commanded the man clothed in linen, “Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim,” he went in and stood beside a wheel. | When the LORD commanded the man in linen, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel. |
Then one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of the man who was clothed with linen, who took it and went out. | And a cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who took it and went out. | Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire that was among them. He took up some of it and put it into the hands of the man in linen, who took it and went out. |
And I looked, and behold, there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man's hand under their wings. | The cherubim appeared to have the form of a human hand under their wings. | (Under the wings of the cherubim could be seen what looked like human hands.) |
And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like the color of beryl stone. | And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like sparkling beryl. | I looked, and I saw beside the cherubim four wheels, one beside each of the cherubim; the wheels sparkled like topaz. |
And as for their appearance and the form, the four of them were alike, as if a wheel were in the midst of a wheel. | And as for their appearance, the four had the same likeness, as if a wheel were within a wheel. | As for their appearance, the four of them looked alike; each was like a wheel intersecting a wheel. |
When they went, they went upon four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the first one went they followed it, they turned not as they went. | When they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went, but in whatever direction the front wheel faced, the others followed without turning as they went. | As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced; the wheels did not turn about as the cherubim went. The cherubim went in whatever direction the head faced, without turning as they went. |
And their whole body and their backs and their hands and their wings and the wheels were full of eyes when they turned on their sides. | And their whole body, their rims, and their spokes, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around—the wheels that the four of them had. | Their entire bodies, including their backs, their hands and their wings, were completely full of eyes, as were their four wheels. |
And as for the wheels, he called them Rolling Wheels, in my presence. | As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing “the whirling wheels.” | I heard the wheels being called “the whirling wheels.” |
And every one of them had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. | And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was a human face, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. | Each of the cherubim had four faces: One face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a human being, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. |
And the cherubim were lifted up. This is the same living creature that I saw by the river Chebar. | And the cherubim mounted up. These were the living creatures that I saw by the Chebar canal. | Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures I had seen by the Kebar River. |
And when the cherubim went, the wheels also went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also turned not from beside them. | And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them. And when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels did not turn from beside them. | When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side. |
When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these were lifted up also; when the cherubim lifted their wings, the wheels also lifted up with them; for the spirit of life was in them. | When they stood still, these stood still, and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in them. | When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; and when the cherubim rose, they rose with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them. |
Then the glory of the LORD departed from the corner of the temple, and stood over the cherubim. | Then the glory of the LORD went out from the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. | Then the glory of the LORD departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim. |
And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight; when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and they stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. | And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them. And they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them. | While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the LORD’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. |
These were the living creatures that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubim. | These were the living creatures that I saw underneath the God of Israel by the Chebar canal; and I knew that they were cherubim. | These were the living creatures I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the Kebar River, and I realized that they were cherubim. |
Each one had four faces, and each one four wings; and the likeness of a man's hand was under their wings. | Each had four faces, and each four wings, and underneath their wings the likeness of human hands. | Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings was what looked like human hands. |
And as for the likeness of their faces, they were like the same faces that I saw by the river Chebar, and their appearance was the same; they went every one straight forward. | And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the same faces whose appearance I had seen by the Chebar canal. Each one of them went straight forward. | Their faces had the same appearance as those I had seen by the Kebar River. Each one went straight ahead. |
