1 And concerning the collection that [is] for the holy ones, as I directed to the assemblies of Galatia, so also you—do; Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do.
2 on every first [day] of the week, let each one of you lay by him, treasuring up whatever he may have prospered, that when I may come then collections may not be made; On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
3 and whenever I may come, whomsoever you may approve, through letters, these I will send to carry your favor to Jerusalem; And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
4 and if it be worthy for me also to go, with me they will go. If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me. If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
5 And I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia—for I pass through Macedonia— I will visit you after passing through Macedonia, for I intend to pass through Macedonia, After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you—for I will be going through Macedonia.
6 and with you, it may be, I will abide, or even winter, that you may send me forward wherever I go, and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may help me on my journey, wherever I go. Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
7 for I do not wish to see you now in the passing, but I hope to remain a certain time with you, if the LORD may permit; For I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
8 and I will remain in Ephesus until the Pentecost, But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
9 for a door has been opened to me—great and effectual—and withstanders [are] many. for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
10 And if Timotheus may come, see that he may become without fear with you, for he works the work of the LORD, even as I, When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am. When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
11 no one, then, may despise him; and send him forward in peace, that he may come to me, for I expect him with the brothers; So let no one despise him. Help him on his way in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers. No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
12 and concerning Apollos our brother, I begged him much that he may come to you with the brothers, and it was not at all [his] will that he may come now, and he will come when he may find convenient. Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will to come now. He will come when he has opportunity. Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
13 Watch, stand in the faith; be men, be strong; Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
14 let all your things be done in love. Let all that you do be done in love. Do everything in love.
15 And I beg you, brothers, you have known the household of Stephanas, that it is the first-fruit of Achaia, and they set themselves to the ministry to the holy ones— Now I urge you, brothers—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord’s people. I urge you, brothers and sisters,
16 that you also be subject to such, and to everyone who is working with [us] and laboring; be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer. to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it.
17 and I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas, and Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because these filled up the lack of you; I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
18 for they refreshed my spirit and yours; acknowledge, therefore, those who [are] such. for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people. For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
19 The assemblies of Asia greet you; Aquilas and Priscilla greet you much in the LORD, with the assembly in their house; The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord. The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.
20 all the brothers greet you; greet one another in a holy kiss. All the brothers send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21 The salutation of [me], Paul, with my hand; I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.
22 if anyone does not cherish the Lord Jesus Christ—let him be accursed! The LORD has come! If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come! If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you; The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
24 my love [is] with you all in Christ Jesus! Amen. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
