1 And all Israel was numbered: and the sum of them was written in the book of the kings of Israel, and Juda: and they were carried away to Babylon for their transgression. So all Israel was recorded in genealogies, and these are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their breach of faith. All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
2 Now the first that dwelt in their possessions, and in their cities, were the Israelites, and the priests, and the Levites, and the Nathineans. Now the first to dwell again in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants. Now the first to resettle on their own property in their own towns were some Israelites, priests, Levites and temple servants.
3 And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Juda, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim, and of Manasses. And some of the people of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh lived in Jerusalem: Those from Judah, from Benjamin, and from Ephraim and Manasseh who lived in Jerusalem were:
4 Othei the son of Ammiud, the son of Amri, the son of Omrai, the son of Bonni, of the sons of Phares the son of Juda. Uthai the son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, from the sons of Perez the son of Judah. Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.
5 And of Siloni: Asaia the firstborn, and his sons. And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons. Of the Shelanites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.
6 And of the sons of Zara: Jehuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety. Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their kinsmen, 690. Of the Zerahites: Jeuel. The people from Judah numbered 690.
7 And of the sons of Benjamin: Sale the son of Mosollam, the son of Oduia, the son of Asana: Of the Benjaminites: Sallu the son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah, Of the Benjamites: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;
8 And Jobania the son of Jeroham: and Ela the son of Ozi, the son of Mochori: and Mosallam the son of Saphatias, the son of Rahuel, the son of Jebania: Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, Elah the son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah; Ibneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Mikri; and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah.
9 And their brethren by their families, nine hundred and fifty-six. All these were heads of their families, by the houses of their fathers. and their kinsmen according to their generations, 956. All these were heads of fathers’ houses according to their fathers’ houses. The people from Benjamin, as listed in their genealogy, numbered 956. All these men were heads of their families.
10 And of the priests: Jedaia, Joiarib, and Jachin: Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin, Of the priests: Jedaiah; Jehoiarib; Jakin;
11 And Azarias the son of Helcias, the son of Mosollam, the son of Sadoc, the son of Maraioth, the son of Achitob, high priest of the house of God. and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, the chief officer of the house of God; Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the official in charge of the house of God;
12 And Adaias the son of Jeroham, the son of Phassur, the son of Melchias, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jezra, the son of Mosollam, the son of Mosollamith, the son of Emmer. and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer; Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah; and Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer.
13 And their brethren heads in their families re thousand seven hundred and threescore, very strong and able men for the work of the ministry in the house of God. besides their kinsmen, heads of their fathers’ houses, 1,760, mighty men for the work of the service of the house of God. The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.
14 And of the Levites: Semeia the son of Hassub the son of Ezricam, the son of Hasebia of the sons of Merari. Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite;
15 And Bacbacar the carpenter, and Galal, and Mathania the son of Micha, the son of Zechri the son of Asaph: and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah the son of Mica, son of Zichri, son of Asaph; Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah son of Mika, the son of Zikri, the son of Asaph;
16 And Obdia the son of Semeia, the son of Galal, the son of Idithum: and Barachia the son of Asa, the son of Elcana, who dwelt in the suburbs of Netophati. and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
17 And the porters were Sellum, and Accub, and Telmon, and Ahiman: and their brother Sellum was the prince, The gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their kinsmen (Shallum was the chief); The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their fellow Levites, Shallum their chief
18 Until that time, in the king's gate eastward, the sons of Levi waited by their turns. until then they were in the king’s gate on the east side as the gatekeepers of the camps of the Levites. being stationed at the King’s Gate on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites.
19 But Sellum the son of Core, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core, with his brethren and his father's house, the Corites were over the works of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their families in turns were keepers of the entrance of the camp of the Lord. Shallum the son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his fathers’ house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the LORD, keepers of the entrance. Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family (the Korahites) were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their ancestors had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
20 And Phinees the son of Eleazar, was their prince before the Lord, And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the chief officer over them in time past; the LORD was with him. In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar was the official in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.
21 And Zacharias the son of Mosollamia, was porter of the gate of the tabernacle of the testimony: Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22 All these that were chosen to be porters at the gates, were two hundred and twelve: and they mere registered in their proper towns: whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their trust. All these, who were chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust. Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.
23 As well them as their sons, to keep the gates of the house of the Lord, and the tabernacle by their turns. So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the LORD, that is, the house of the tent, as guards. They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the tent of meeting.
24 In four quarters were the porters: that is to say, toward the east, and west, and north, and south. The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south. The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south.
25 And their brethren dwelt in villages, and came upon their sabbath days from time to time. And their kinsmen who were in their villages were obligated to come in every seven days, in turn, to be with these, Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods.
26 To these four Levites were committed the whole number of the porters, and they were over the chambers, and treasures, of the house of the Lord. for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasures of the house of God. But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God.
27 And they abode in their watches round about the temple of the Lord: that when it was time, they might open the gates in the morning. And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning. They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning.
28 And some of their stock had the charge of the vessels for the ministry: for the vessels were both brought in and carried out by number. Some of them had charge of the utensils of service, for they were required to count them when they were brought in and taken out. Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out.
29 Some of them also had the instruments of the sanctuary committed unto them, and the charge of the fine flour, and wine, and oil, and frankincense, and spices. Others of them were appointed over the furniture and over all the holy utensils, also over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the incense, and the spices. Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices.
30 And the sons of the priests made the ointments of the spices. Others, of the sons of the priests, prepared the mixing of the spices, But some of the priests took care of mixing the spices.
31 And Mathathias a Levite, the firstborn of Sellum the Corite, was overseer of such things as were fried in the fryingpan. and Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with making the flat cakes. A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread.
32 And some of the sons of Caath their brethren, were over the leaves of proposition, to prepare always new for every sabbath. Also some of their kinsmen of the Kohathites had charge of the showbread, to prepare it every Sabbath. Some of the Kohathites, their fellow Levites, were in charge of preparing for every Sabbath the bread set out on the table.
33 These are the chief of the singing men of the families of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers, by the temple, that they might serve continually day and night in their ministry. Now these, the singers, the heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, were in the chambers of the temple free from other service, for they were on duty day and night. Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.
34 The heads of the Levites, princes in their families, abode in Jerusalem. These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, according to their generations, leaders. These lived in Jerusalem. All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs as listed in their genealogy, and they lived in Jerusalem.
35 And in Gabaon dwelt Jehiel the father of Gabaon, and the name of hill wife was Maacha: In Gibeon lived the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, and the name of his wife was Maacah, Jeiel the father of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maakah,
36 His firstborn son Abdon, and Sur, and Cis, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, and his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, and his firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Gedor also, and Ahio, and Zacharias, and Macelloth. Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth; Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah and Mikloth.
38 And Macelloth beget Samaan: these dwelt over against their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren. and Mikloth was the father of Shimeam; and these also lived opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem, with their kinsmen. Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
39 Now Ner beget Cia: and Cis begot Saul: and Saul beget Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal. Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. Ner was the father of Kish, Kish the father of Saul, and Saul the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab and Esh-Baal.
40 And the son of Jonathan, was Meribbaal: and Meribbaal beget Micha. And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah. The son of Jonathan: Merib-Baal, who was the father of Micah.
41 And the sons of Micha, were Phithon, and Melech, and Tharaa, and Ahaz. The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz. The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melek, Tahrea and Ahaz.
42 And Ahaz beget Jara, and Jara beget Alamath, and Azmoth, and Zamri. And Zamri beget Mesa. And Ahaz fathered Jarah, and Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. And Zimri fathered Moza. Ahaz was the father of Jadah, Jadah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri, and Zimri was the father of Moza.
43 And Mesa beget Banaa: whose son Raphaia beget Elasa: of whom was born Asel. Moza fathered Binea, and Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
44 And heel had six sons whose names are, Ezricam, Bochru, Ismahel, Saria, Obdia, Hanan: these are the sons of Asel. Azel had six sons and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel. Azel had six sons, and these were their names: Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
