David consulted with his military officers, including those who led groups of a thousand and those who led groups of a hundred. David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader. David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
David said to the whole Israelite assembly, |If you so desire and the LORD our God approves, let's spread the word to our brothers who remain in all the regions of Israel, and to the priests and Levites in their cities, so they may join us. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and from the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us. He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.
Let's move the ark of our God back here, for we did not seek his will throughout Saul's reign.| Then let us bring again the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul.” Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.”
The whole assembly agreed to do this, for the proposal seemed right to all the people. All the assembly agreed to do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.
So David assembled all Israel from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim. So David assembled all Israel from the Nile of Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. So David assembled all Israel, from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah (that is, Kiriath Jearim) in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who sits enthroned between the cherubim--the ark that is called by his name. And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim that belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD who sits enthroned above the cherubim. David and all Israel went to Baalah of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.
They transported the ark on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the cart, And they carried the ark of God on a new cart, from the house of Abinadab, and Uzzah and Ahio were driving the cart. They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it.
while David and all Israel were energetically celebrating before God, singing and playing various stringed instruments, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets. And David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, with song and lyres and harps and tambourines and cymbals and trumpets. David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.
When they arrived at the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to take hold of the ark, because the oxen stumbled. And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah put out his hand to take hold of the ark, for the oxen stumbled. When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled.
The LORD was so furious with Uzzah, he killed him, because he reached out his hand and touched the ark. He died right there before God. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he put out his hand to the ark, and he died there before God. The LORD’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
David was angry because the LORD attacked Uzzah; so he called that place Perez Uzzah, which remains its name to this very day. And David was angry because the LORD had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzza to this day. Then David was angry because the LORD’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.
David was afraid of God that day and said, |How will I ever be able to bring the ark of God up here?| And David was afraid of God that day, and he said, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
So David did not move the ark to the City of David; he left it in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. So David did not take the ark home into the city of David, but took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
The ark of God remained in Obed-Edom's house for three months; the LORD blessed Obed-Edom's family and everything that belonged to him. And the ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that he had. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
