As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.1But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.
Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.2Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.
Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.3Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children,4so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.5to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.6Likewise urge the young men to be sensible;
And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.7in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,
Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.8sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back9Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.10not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,12instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,
while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.13looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.14who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them. You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.15These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
