Psalm 129
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
1From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me. Let all Israel repeat this:1A Song of degrees. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
2From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me, but they have never defeated me.2Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.
3My back is covered with cuts, as if a farmer had plowed long furrows.3The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.
4But the LORD is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly.4The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.
5May all who hate Jerusalem be turned back in shameful defeat.5Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.
6May they be as useless as grass on a rooftop, turning yellow when only half grown,6Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:
7ignored by the harvester, despised by the binder.7Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.
8And may those who pass by refuse to give them this blessing: “The LORD bless you; we bless you in the LORD’s name.”8Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.
