| 1A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. | 1The LORD is the one who is shepherding me; I lack nothing. |
| 2He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. | 2He causes me to lie down in pastures of green grass; he guides me beside quiet waters. |
| 3He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. | 3He revives my life; he leads me in pathways that are righteous for the sake of his name. |
| 4Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. | 4Even when I walk through a valley of deep darkness, I will not be afraid because you are with me. Your rod and your staff—they comfort me. |
