A Psalm of David. To bring to remembrance. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure! | 1A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. |
For Your arrows pierce me deeply, And Your hand presses me down. | 2For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. |
There is no soundness in my flesh Because of Your anger, Nor any health in my bones Because of my sin. | 3There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. |
For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. | 4For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. |
My wounds are foul and festering Because of my foolishness. | 5My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. |
I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. | 6I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. |
For my loins are full of inflammation, And there is no soundness in my flesh. | 7For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. |
I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart. | 8I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart. |
Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You. | 9Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. |
My heart pants, my strength fails me; As for the light of my eyes, it also has gone from me. | 10My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. |
My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, And my relatives stand afar off. | 11My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off. |
Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long. | 12They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. |
But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth. | 13But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. |
Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response. | 14Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs. |
For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God. | 15For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. |
For I said, “Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, Lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me.” | 16For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me. |
For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me. | 17For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. |
For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin. | 18For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. |
But my enemies are vigorous, and they are strong; And those who hate me wrongfully have multiplied. | 19But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. |
Those also who render evil for good, They are my adversaries, because I follow what is good. | 20They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is. |
Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me! | 21Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me. |
Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation! | 22Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation. |
