Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.1Miriam and Aaron rebelled against Moses on account of the Cushite woman that he had married.
So they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it.2They asked, "Has the LORD spoken only through Moses? Hasn't he also spoken through us?" But the LORD heard it.
(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)3Now the man Moses was very humble—more than any person on earth.
Suddenly the LORD said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out.4All of a sudden, the LORD told Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, "The three of you are to come out to the Tent of Meeting." So the three of them went out.
Then the LORD came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.5Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud, stood at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and summoned Aaron and Miriam. So both of them went forward.
Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.6Then he told the two of them: "Pay attention to what I have to say! When there is a prophet among you, won't I, the LORD, reveal myself to him in a vision? Won't I speak with him in a dream?
Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house.7But that's not how it is with my servant Moses, since he has been entrusted with my entire household!
I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”8I speak to him audibly and in visions, not in mysteries. If he can gaze at the image of the LORD, why aren't you afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"
So the anger of the LORD was aroused against them, and He departed.9Because the LORD was very angry with them, he left,
And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.10but when the cloud ascended from the tent, Miriam had become leprous, as white as snow! Aaron turned toward Miriam, and she had leprosy!
So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.11Aaron begged Moses, "I pray my lord, please don't hold this sin against us, since we've acted foolishly and sinned in doing so.
Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”12Please don't let her be like one of the living dead, who is born with a congenital skin disease."
So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”13So Moses prayed to the LORD: "O LORD, please heal her."
Then the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again.14But the LORD told Moses, "If her father had merely spit in her face, wouldn't she be humiliated? She is to be placed in isolation for seven days. After that, she may be brought in."
So Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.15So Miriam was isolated outside the camp for seven days and the people didn't travel until Miriam was brought in.
And afterward the people moved from Hazeroth and camped in the Wilderness of Paran.16After that, the people traveled from Hazeroth and encamped in the Wilderness of Paran.
